Art That Really Stinks

P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center in Long Island City is home to a piece of art that really stinks. Artist Mike Bouchet's "Celebrity Hot Tub for Kofi Annan" consists of a cardboard box fashioned to look like a hot-tub. Inside the hot-tub sits a rotting capocollo, which was left to ferment in a pool of rancid water.

"The smell is making the tint peel off my sunglasses"
The "art" has caused some of the museum visitors to vomit and sent many others running for the exit. The problems started when the artist installed the work, then left for Germany without instructing the museum on how to deal with his work. After 6 weeks, Bouchet's assistant replaced the water and sausage, which only temporally solved the problem.

Bouchet's other works include a collection of soil mixed with composted human excrement collected from inmates at Riker's Island.
