Bowl Predictor XJ50

My sports predictions are as worthless as a screen door on a submarine. But who am I to mess with tradition, here are my bowl predictions and where are my pants?

My projected winners are bolded. I have separated out the games into one of three categories:
1) Worth Watching
2) Better Than Watching 24 Hours of Christmas Story
3) Only Watch These If The Paint Is Already Dry

Worth Watching

Tostitos BCS Championship Game
Jan. 8, 8 p.m. - FOX
Florida vs. Ohio State
It should have been Michigan. For the BCSs sake, I hope that OSU blows this one out. Otherwise we have to hear Fox's Joe Buck talk about how Michigan should have had another shot at Ohio State. I hate Joe Buck.

Allstate Sugar
Jan. 3, 8 p.m. - FOX
Notre Dame vs. LSU
This will be a great game, probably better than the Florida-OSU game.

Tostitos Fiesta
Jan. 1, 8 p.m. - FOX
Boise State vs. Oklahoma
Boise State played zero ranked teams this season. Take Sacramento State off their schedule and add a Texas or even a Purdue and see if they have 12 wins at Bowl time. Beating Idaho by 16 points doesn't impress me.

FedEx Orange
Jan. 2, 8 p.m. - FOX
Louisville vs. Wake Forest
Rutgers should be here.

Rose Bowl presented by Citi
Jan. 1, 5 p.m. - ABC HD
USC vs. Michigan
Count me as one of the many people who are BCS-haters that think Michigan got robbed. Like the wishbone offense and instant replay, the BCS is something we have to tolerate with college football for now. Michigan will take it's BCS angst out on USC. If Florida beats OSU, then we can bash the BCS all winter long (again).

Texas
Dec. 28, 8 p.m.- NFL Network
Rutgers
vs. Kansas State
I actually hope Rutgers loses so we don't have to hear about their "Cinderella story" any more. They had a good season; they also played a cupcake schedule with wins against football powerhouses like Howard and UConn. Also, why is the NFL Network covering bowl games?

Toyota Gator
Jan. 1, 1 p.m. - CBS
West Virginia vs. Georgia Tech
There will be a total of 43 teeth in the whole crowd watching this game.

Gaylord Hotels Music City
Dec. 29, 1 p.m. - ESPN HD
Clemson vs. Kentucky
Just kidding. The only reason to watch this one is to hear the announcer say "Gaylord". The game is sold-out, so I guess some people care about this one. Yawn.

Better Than Watching 24 Hours of Christmas Story

Capital One
Jan. 1, 1 p.m. - ABC HD
Arkansas vs. Wisconsin
So what, I know that Wisconsin is 11-1, but they played one ranked team...and lost.

Outback
Jan. 1, 11 a.m. - ESPN HD
Tennessee vs. Penn State
Being a UT fan, the only thing I can get excited about this game is that it will be broadcast in HD. I also detest Penn State.

AT&T Cotton
Jan. 1, 11:30 a.m. - FOX
Auburn vs. Nebraska
Nebraska plays a cupcake schedule. Auburn is no cupcake. What the hell is a War Eagle?

Alamo
Dec. 30, 4:30 p.m. -ESPN HD
Texas vs. Iowa
Hillary Clinton is rooting for Iowa, so I'm going with Texas.

San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia
TCU vs. Northern Illinois
Dec. 19, 8 p.m. - ESPN2 HD
That guy on Northern Ill. runs for something like 800 yards a game. Ball hog.

Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas
BYU vs. Oregon
Dec. 21, 8 p.m. - ESPN HD
The Stormin' Mormons against the Quack Attack. This should be a high scoring affair.

Sheraton Hawaii
Dec. 24, 8 p.m. - ESPN HD
Arizona State vs. Hawaii
Hawaii ran off 9 wins in a row this season, led by a QB with a really cool cowboyish name (Colt Brennan). Colt also threw for almost 5,000 yards and 53...that's 53 TDs.

Pacific Life Holiday
Dec. 28, 8 p.m. - ESPN HD
California vs. Texas A&M
Cal got smoked by Tennessee in the first game, then managed to put together a pretty good season. They were just overwhelmed by the hype the ESPN crew laid on them before UT dismantled them. They are still overrated and A&M will smoke them.

Meineke Car Care
Dec. 30, 1 p.m. - ESPN HD
Navy vs. Boston College
The wishbone should be banned, along with the DH in baseball.

Motor City
Dec. 26, 7:30 p.m. - ESPN HD
Middle Tennessee vs. Central Michigan
MTSU is in a bowl? Do they stock their team with players who flunked out of UT, which is how their student population ended up at MTSU?

R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
Dec. 22, 8 p.m. - ESPN2 HD
Rice vs. Troy
Why is this game in HD? Troy played one ranked team and took a 56-0 beating. Rice played two ranked teams in a row and got shellacked 52-7 and 55-7, however they are on a 6 game winning streak.

Papajohns.com Bowl
Dec. 23, 1 p.m. - ESPN2 HD
South Florida vs. East Carolina
USF beat West Virginia and played Rutgers tough. They are not that bad. You know what is bad? Papa Johns pizza.

Bell Helicopter Armed Forces
Dec. 23, 8 p.m. - ESPN HD
Tulsa vs. Utah
I like Utah because "Utes" is a cool mascot, whatever it is. Sure as hell beats a Golden Hurricane (insert golden shower joke).

Insight
Dec. 29, 7:30 p.m. - NFL Network
Texas Tech vs. Minnesota
Once again...why is the NFL Network doing college games?

Champs Sports
Dec. 29, 8 p.m. - ESPN HD
Purdue vs. Maryland
Purdue allows 190 rushing yards a game and 6th in total defense....6th from the bottom (114th place).

MPC Computers
Dec. 31, 7:30 p.m. - ESPN HD
Miami vs. Nevada
There's something about watching football on Smurf Turf. Oh right, it's called nausea.

Only Watch These If The Paint Is Already Dry

AutoZone Liberty
Dec. 29, 4:30 p.m. - ESPN HD
Houston vs. South Carolina
The only reason to watch this game is to see Steve Spurrier throw his visor in anger. I love that.

Brut Sun
Dec. 29, 2 p.m. - CBS
Oregon State vs. Missouri

Brut is sponsoring bowls? What's next an Old Spice Bowl?

Chick-fil-A
Dec. 30, 8 p.m. - ESPN HD
Georgia vs. Virginia Tech
How did Georgia make a bowl? At least Joe Tereshinski is not starting for them.

PetroSun Independence
Dec. 28, 4:30 p.m. - ESPN HD
Oklahoma State vs. Alabama
With two .500 teams in a bowl, everyone loses.

Emerald
Dec. 27, 8 p.m. - ESPN HD
Florida State vs. UCLA
Ha Ha FSU is 6-6.

New Mexico
Dec. 23, 4:30 p.m. - ESPN HD
New Mexico vs. San Jose State
You would think losing to Portland State might knock NM off-track. No, they managed to lose 5 more games on their way to a 6-6 record. And you thought only teams like Florida State could get into a bowl with a .500 record.

GMAC
Jan. 7, 8 p.m. - ESPN HD
Ohio vs. Southern Miss
Why do they put this stinker so late in the bowl season?

International
Jan. 6, Noon -ESPN2 HD
Cincinnati vs. Western Michigan
Toronto
Bowl games in Canada? Ehhh. At least make the teams adhere to Canadian Football rules.

There you have it. Let me know what you think or trackback to your own bowl post.
