Canadian Bacon

While New York braces for another round of potential terror attacks it is important to see what our state leaders doing to make us more safe or (in some cases) unsafe. A recent case-and-point involves the border between Canada and the US. Some politicians want to fight the Bush Administration's plan to tighten up the security.

WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton D-NY and Gov. Pataki on Wednesday pressed Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to relax the pending requirement that people entering the United States from Canada carry passports.

NORTH DAKOTA - Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., who believes the passport requirement will disrupt travel, tourism and commerce between the two countries, organized the hearing, which took place in the Grand Forks City Council chambers.

What's ironic is Hillary's support for stricter border controls along the line with Mexico. Does Senator Clinton think the white Canadians should have easier access to our country than people of color coming in from Mexico? How does that play out with her plans for 2008, surely Latino voters would be upset? Where's Jesse Jackson? The NY Sun reports on the NY Republican lawmakers who are taking notice, calling her stance "pandering" and denounce this "hypocrisy".

This is another sign that Hillary is in the pocket of large corporations in Upstate New York, you see a number of "Go Home Hillary" stickers around the city and Long Island ; those will surely increase as her nonstop pandering to Upstate leaves her constituents in lower New York potentially unsafe.
