SS Jimmy Carter

When I first heard the Navy was naming an Attack Submarine after former president Jimmy Carter, I had to laugh. First, it's ironic that Carter is bering honored with a Cold War era platform that has little relevance in today's Navy, while Ronald Reagan was given a Nuclear Aircraft Carrier which will be an active and crucial part of our military for the next 50 years?

Second, after hearing this I kept thinking about how this reminds me of another goofball hippie who found themselves in a military situation, Oddball from Kelly's Heroes.

Oddball: Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
