The fables in Coral Gables

After weeks of build-up, the first debate is upon us. It may not be the "thrilla in Manilla", but if Kerry keeps up the talk about the mythical draft, Bush raising Medicare premiums, Bush's secret plans, or nuclear war, we may have to call it "the fables in Coral Gables".

Who will win the debate? Kerry already has the bronze locked up. The media have already put Bush out as the favorite, one reporter calling the Bush team "cocky". In the end, each side is going to have their talking heads out claiming victory. The word "flip-flop" and "quagmire" will be thrown around like hookers at the Kennedy compound. It is too bad the candidates cannot approach each other; debates would be more fun with a little wrestling match there at the end.
